Amarillo Globe News 11 Jul 1998 Hilda Elizabeth Honeman HOOKER, Okla. - Hilda Elizabeth Honeman, 90, died Thursday, July 9, 1998, in Liberal, Kan. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooker with the Rev. J. Robert Herrod officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Honeman was born and raised in Lowry City, Mo. She graduated from high school in Pittsburg, Kan., and received her teacher's certificate from Central Missouri State University. She taught school in her home district until moving to a farm near Optima after her marriage. In 1950, she moved to Hooker. She was a homemaker and member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League and held offices at both the zone and Oklahoma district levels. An avid quilter, she was a member of the Sunshine and Sew and Sew Clubs. She married August H. Honeman in 1935. He died in 1990. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Suzanne, in 1937. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Little of Tucson, Ariz.; three sons, Ray Honeman of New Ulm, Minn., Van Grant Honeman of Tucson and Douglas Honeman of Hooker; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Lutheran Hour-Russian Ministry, the LWML or the Hooker Firefighters Association.
