All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Gladys Mae Key.beaver BEAVER, Okla. - Gladys Mae Key, 89, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Elmhurst Cemetery followed by memorial services at 2 p.m. in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Chaffin, pastor, and the Rev. Bobby Howard, pastor of Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Mrs. Key was born in Beaver County near Boyd and completed fourth grade in a rural Beaver school. She completed her education in Goodwell. She attended Panhandle Agricultural Institute and attained a lifetime teaching certificate. She taught in Fulton and the Guymon school system. Mrs. Key was a member of the Sigma Phi club, Guymon Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 419 and Victory Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and assisted with the annual church bazaar. She was active in preparations for the annual Pioneer Days celebrations. In 1956, Mrs. Key and her husband moved to the family homestead in Beaver County where they farmed and operated a dairy. She continued to run the farm after his death. She married Clyde Key in 1931. He died in 1978. Survivors include two daughters, Dorla Summars of Woodward and Mary Caruthers of Jonesborough, Tenn; six grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 until 9 p.m. today and Monday morning at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Gladys Key Memorial at the Beaver County Nursing Home and will be accepted at Henson-Novak Funeral Home, Box 1306, Guymon, OK 73942.
