King, 62, of Oklahoma City who passed on July 4, 2004 after a year and a half of battling lung cancer. Born Jan. 4, 1942 to John Paul and Thelma Laverne King in Guymon, OK. James was a retired accountant, who in his early parenting years was heavily involved with the Cub and Boy Scouts and coaching his son's baseball teams. In his later years he found happiness umpiring, helping with the March of Dimes, and loving his grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents John and Thelma and his brother Francis King. Survived by his wife Charlotte King of the city, brother Thomas King (Austin, TX), first wife Jan Clare (OKC), son Michael King and wife Sharen (Oak Creek, WI), son Brian King and wife Marci (Colorado Springs, CO), stepdaughter Kristin Clement (Perryton, TX) and stepsons Charles Howard (Dallas, TX) and Bryan Howard (OKC). James boasts of 6 grandchildren, Sarah and Andrew Clement (Perryton, TX), Lauren and Coryn King (Oak Creek, WI), and Makayla and Nicole King (Colorado Springs, CO), Nicole born July 5, 2004. James is also survived by hundreds of scouts and baseball players whose lives he so positively impacted. Thank you Lord for giving us James who always cared first for others before himself. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 10 at 10 A.M. at Demuth Funeral Home, 1145 W. Britton Rd. OKC, OK 73114.
