She was born January 14, 1912 in Matfield Green, KS and attended Matfield Green High School and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, KS. Following college she taught for seven years in Chase County, KS grade schools. In 1937, Maxine married Meredith Kirk, together they resided in Cottonwood Falls, KS; Guymon, OK and later retired in Oklahoma City. Maxine was dedicated to her service in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and very active in the Retirees Group. She was a Christian in all of her endeavors. She was a 60 year lifetime member of the Guymon Chapter No. 419 of the Order of Eastern Star. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Meredith in 1986. Her survivors include two daughters and their husbands: Vicki Grimes & Richard of Edmond, OK; Karen Hester & Jim of Norcross, GA; grandchildren: Todd Hester & Kim of Grayson, Ga; Brandt Grimes of Edmond, OK; Greg Hester & Shannon of Duluth, GA; Cally Hightower & Thomas of Amarillo, TX; four great grandchildren. Services will be Monday January 24, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Vondel L. Smith & Son North Colonial Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Building fund at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church 2717 W. Hefner Rd.
