Veda Fern Lackey

PERRYTON - Veda "Grannie'' Fern Lackey, 79, died Sunday, April 6, 1997.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Waka Church of the 
Brethren with the Rev. Martin Gauby officiating. Burial will be in 
Ochiltree County Cemetery by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker.

Mrs. Lackey was born in Shattuck, Okla. She was raised in Ochiltree County 
and attended the Lone Tree country school. She then attended Perryton High 
school and graduated in 1936.

She married E.V. "Dutch'' Lackey in 1938 at Guymon, Okla. They made their 
home in Old Ochiltree, where they were engaged in farming and ranching 
until moving to Perryton. They later moved to Amarillo and retired.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974.

Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Lackey moved to Gruver. She moved 
back to Perryton in 1987.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Perryton.

Survivors include a son, Larry Lackey of Perryton; five brothers, Arleigh 
Schwab of Arroyo Grande, Calif., Harlan Schwab of Plainview, Erle Schwab 
of Shallowater, Billy Schwab of Calimesa, Calif., and Ray Schwab of 
Darrouzett; two sisters, Gladys Shute of Reno, Nev., and Bessie Mitchell 
of Calimesa; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity.
