A witty, quiet man, who expressed his profound compassion for people and animals with incalculable acts of kindness. He is the one who would stop and help the turtle cross the road. A descendant of a pioneer doctor, he is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Larry and Maxine Lowery. He is survived by his wife, Carole Wangrud; his son Curtis Wangrud; and sisters, Linda Perino, Amy Unseld, Julie Greene, and Dr. Becky Lowery; Uncle Ray Payne; niece Elizabeth and nephews Max, Adam, Charles, Keith, and Kyle; Golf, music, politics, classic cars, old movies, sporting events and poker were his passion. He finished 8th in the 1995 World Series of Poker Razz event at Binion's Horseshoe. His musical career included membership in the Guymon and OSU bands and the Group, Beaver Express. Mark was raised in Guymon and was a graduate of OSU and the OCU School of Law, with memberships in Phi Delta Theta and Phi Delta Phi. He was the recipient of numerous Am Jur Awards. In lieu of flowers, Mark would have appreciated any donations to the Wildcare Foundation in Noble, Oklahoma. Services will be held at the Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary at 13125 N. MacArthur, Tuesday, January 17, at 2::00 P.M. Goodbye my friend, my love.
