All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Hooker Cemetery--Hooker OK William George McKinley II HOOKER, Okla. - William George "Bill" McKinley II, 66, died Sunday, May 30, 1999. Military graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Hooker Cemetery with the Fort Sill Funeral Honors Team and Chaplain. Arrangements are by Robert Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. McKinley was born in St. John, Kan. He was raised in the St. John area and attended school there. He joined the Army and served two tours of duty in the Korean War and one tour in the Vietnam War. He also served in Germany; the Netherlands; Okinawa, Japan; Washington, Oklahoma and Texas. He earned a bachelor's degree at Oklahoma State University and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Oklahoma. He also attended the Army's Command and General Staff College. He retired from the Army as a master sergeant in 1978 and moved to Hooker. Mr. McKinley was a certified teacher and licensed single-engine aircraft pilot. Survivors include his wife, Ruby; two sons, Willie McKinley of Lakin, Kan., and J.T. McKinley of Hooker; a daughter, Melody Logsdon of Clayton, N.M.; a stepson, William Duane Hicks of Hooker; two stepdaughters, Beatrice Thomas of Rush Springs and JoAnn Chamberlain of Fairview; a stepsister, Jeanine Blair of Albuquerque, N.M.; and 10 grandchildren. The family requests memorials to the Robert McKinley Scholarship Fund at Amarillo College.
