All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 14 Oct 1997 LaFerne Glenn Mott GUYMON, Okla. - LaFerne Glenn Mott, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 1997, in Liberal, Kan. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Chaffin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lions Park, Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mott was born in Optima. After graduating from Guymon High School with the class of 1935, she attended Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha. She then transferred to Southeastern State Teachers College in Durant and later attended Hills Business College in Oklahoma City. She worked for Aetna Life Insurance Co. She married Maurice V. Mott in 1942 at Guymon. They made their home in Guymon. She was an active member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church. She was church secretary for a short while and later served as membership secretary. Along with being a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher, she was a longtime member of the chancel choir. She also accompanied the junior choir for many years. Mrs. Mott was a member of Guymon Chapter No. 419 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Tri-K Bridge Club and an ecumenical ladies Bible study. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Maurine Warren of Griggs and Mary Jane Adams of Manhattan, Kan.; a stepsister, Ramona Parks of Salina, Kan.; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A LaFerne Mott memorial has been established for Loaves & Fishes Food Cupboard or a favorite charity.
