All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Thomas Preston Metcalf HOOKER - Thomas Preston Metcalf, 81, died Friday, May 23, 1997. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Cook officiating. Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery. Arrangements are by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Metcalf was born in Hooker. He grew up in Hooker and graduated from Hooker High School with the class of 1933. He then attended Panhandle State College and the University of Oklahoma. He married Imogene Wilson in 1941 at Hooker. They lived and farmed in Hooker all of their lives together. For 33 years, he was a member and at different times he was president of the Hooker Board of Education. He was a member of the Hooker Golf Club and helped build the first grass green on the course. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church. In 1940, he petitioned the Hooker Lodge, initiated and entered apprentice, and passed to degree of Fellowcraft, and was raised to Master Mason. He became a 32 degree Scottish Rite in 1945, served as master of Hooker Lodge in 1944, and he received a 50-year membership pin for both a Mason and Scottish Rite. He was also a lodge member for 57 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom W. Metcalf of Fort Collins, Colo., and John R. Metcalf of Hooker; two sisters, Mary Lou Pack of Oklahoma City, and Ann Watts of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren; and a stepgrandson. The family requests memorials be to Thomas P. Metcalf Memorial Scholarship at Hooker High School in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 745, Hooker, Okla. 73945.
