Irma Taliaferro Matney



Irma Taliaferro Matney, 92, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 22, 2002.



Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery East with Dan

Bouchelle, senior minister of Central Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements

are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.



Mrs. Matney was born in 1909 at Denton, where she attended school. After

graduating in 1930 with a bachelor's degree from Texas State College for

Women, now Texas Woman's University, she taught high school English in

Thornton and Plemons.



In 1935, she married Roy M. Matney at Guymon, Okla. The couple moved

from Plemons to Amarillo in 1940.



She was a longtime member of Central Church of Christ.



She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; and a grandson, Roy M.

Matney III in 1992.



Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Seven of New York City; a son, Roy M.

Matney II of Houston; a brother, Weldon Taliaferro of Amarillo; two nieces;

and three nephews.



The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice in care of Olivia's Angels,

P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.
