All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== William Braniff Munro LIBERAL, Kan. - William "Bill" Braniff Munro, 72, died Sunday, July 4, 1999, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Gospel of Grace Church in Hooker, Okla., with the Rev. Gary Wiens officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mr. Munro was born in Devils Lake, N. D., and attended schools in Crary, N. D. He joined the Army in 1944, serving in World War II and the Korean War, where he was wounded and received an honorable discharge in 1954. He married Ellen Kennedy in 1961 at Crookston, Minn. They moved to Hooker in 1961 and to Liberal in 1964, where he worked for 17 years at USD 480. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3166 in Liberal. Survivors include his wife; six daughters, LaNora Stiles of Shorewood, Ill., Teresa Harrison, Tammie Heathman and Michelle Munro, all of Liberal, Brenda Osborne of Elkhart, and Phylis Gebhard of Amarillo; three sisters, Florence Finner of Devils Lake, Anne Winnigge of Tooele, Utah, and Renee Olson of Yakima, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Special Olympics c/o Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
