Martin, 75, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. Services were at 10 a.m. Monday in Tyrone Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Hein officiating. Burial was in the Oberlin Cemetery at Oberlin, Kan., with the Rev. David Randall officiating. Arrangements were by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Martin was born and raised in Oberlin. He graduated from Oberlin High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. After the war, he returned to Oberlin and married Avis Pollnow, who died in 1967. Mr. Martin was an alcohol counselor with Valley Hope in Norton, Kan., and Nebraska Mental Health in Scotts Bluff, Neb. He moved to Tyrone in 1994. His second marriage was to Mildred Sleffel, who died in 1969. He also was preceded in death by a son, David Lee. Survivors include sons, Randy Martin of Valley, Neb., Tom Martin of Tyrone and Rod Martin of Liberal, Kan.; a brothers, Kenneth Martin of Oberlin; and five grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society c/o Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
