All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Hooker Cemetery--Hooker OK Amarillo Globe News 22 Nov 1997 Howard Raff ROLLA, Kan. - Howard Raff, 58, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, in Elkhart. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rolla United Methodist Church with the Rev. Floyd Benson and the Rev. Glenn Bailey officiating. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker, Okla. Mr. Raff was born in Hooker. He attended Hooker schools and graduated in 1957 from Hooker High School. He attended Southwestern State University at Weatherford, Okla., and graduated in 1961 with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. He married Elvera Mae Enns in 1961 at Hooker. Mr. Raff was an Army veteran, serving at Fort Ord, Calif., and Dugway, Mont. He attended Panhandle Agricultural and Mechanical College at Goodwell and received his teaching certificate in 1965. In 1969, he received a master's degree in counseling from Kansas State University. He taught school in Spearman, Texas, Longford, Hope and Ellis. He taught at Rolla High School, where he also was a secondary counselor and sponsored the student council. Mr. Raff attended First Baptist Church and was a life member of the National Education Association and the NRA. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, the Kansas NEA and the Morton County Teachers Association. Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Raff of Overland Park; his parents, Lem and Blanche Raff of Hooker; and a brother, Sam Raff of Liberal.
