Ramsey, 80, died Friday, May 23, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Gospel of Grace Church with the Rev. Gary Wiens officiating. Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery. Arrangements are by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Ramsey was born in Hutchinson, Kan. In 1919, his family bought farm land in the Hooker area, where he lived, farmed, ranched and raised his family. He attended elementary school at Buffalo School and graduated from Hooker High School with the class of 1936. He married Ninetta Kennedy in 1940 at Hooker. She died in 1994. They farmed together and in 1954, he worked part time for Natural Gas Company. In 1956, he began working full time for 20 years. He drove a school bus for Hooker Schools for five years. He retired from farming after the fall harvest of 1996. He earned his electrical certificate and wired many houses in the area as well as the educational building at the Gospel of Grace Church. He was a member and trustee of the Gospel of Grace Church. He was a longtime member of Texas County Mineral Owners Board, a member of Guymon TV Translator Board since its inception, and the Hooker Senior Citizens. Survivors include a son, Harlan Ramsey of Hooker; three daughters, Ladene Beer of Guymon, Ilene Hammack of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and Joan Palmgren of Satanta, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Hooker Cemetery Fund or the Gospel of Grace Music Department, care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 745, Hooker, Okla. 73945.
