Ruth C. Shackelford

GUYMON, Okla. - Ruth C. Shackelford, 87, died Friday, Oct. 24, 1997.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Guymon Church of Christ with Gerald 
Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Arrangements are 
by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Shackelford was born near Harper, Kan. She graduated from Harper High 
School in 1926. She then moved to Alva where she graduated from 
Northwestern College with a teaching degree. She began teaching in Braman 
before moving to Guymon in 1931. She taught a variety of courses for the 
Guymon school system for more than 30 years. She married Elmer Emery 
Shackelford in 1933 in Guymon. She was a member of Guymon Church of 
Christ, where she was a ladies Bible teacher. She was a charter member of 
Sigma Phi. She was a volunteer for Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts, hospital 
auxiliary, election board, Red Cross, and the Texas County Free Fair.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include a daughter, Janna Montgomery of Durham, Okla.; a son, 
William Shackelford of Bangor, Maine; and three step-grandsons.

The family requests memorials be to the Ruth Shackelford Memorial at 
Henson-Novak Funeral Home, Box 1306, Guymon, Okla 73942.
