Starr Sloan, 41, died Friday, March 12, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Henson-Novak Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Odie Nunley officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery in Spearman by the funeral home. Mr. Sloan was born in Perryton where he attended schools, later graduating from Fleming High School in Fleming, Ky. He worked for Adams Hard Facing for more than 16 years and had been employed by Sims Electric Co. for the past four years. He worked with the Special Olympics, supported the Panhandle Area Shelter Workshop and was a Baptist. He married Tracey Carter in 1978. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Katie Sloan; a son, Brandon Sloan; his mother, Rosa Sloan of Guymon; a sister, Karen Riddles of Austin; a brother, Steve Sloan of California; and his grandmother, Etta Buchanan of Stigler, Okla. An educational fund for the Sloan children has been established at the City National Bank. Memorials will be accepted at the bank or at Henson- Novak Funeral Home, Box 1306, Guymon, OK 73942.
