All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 21 Feb 1998 Geoffrey Scott Underwood GOODWELL, Okla. - Geoffrey Scott Underwood, 20, a former Goodwell resident, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, in Houston, Texas. A private memorial service was in Port Aransas, Texas. Arrangements were by Santana Funeral Home of Houston. Mr. Underwood attended public school in Goodwell and also attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University. He was a senior speech major at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, where he was an active member of the forensics team and a member of Alpha Psi Omega honorary and Cardinal Key. He was a member of United Methodist Church. Mr. Underwood had maintained a lifetime involvement in the Boy Scouts of America. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1991 through Guymon Troop No. 163 and completed his Eagle Palms the following year. In 1993, he earned the National Hornaday Conservation Award for activities completed through Troop No. 163. He was an active researcher and writer. He authored or co-authored 10 scholarly papers for presentation at student and professional conventions. Last year, a national journal for tropical fish enthusiasts published his research report. His poetry appears in more than 20 student and commercial anthologies. Survivors include his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Willard Underwood of Gruver, Texas; two brothers, Brian Underwood of Port Aransas and Patrick Underwood of Bartlesville; a sister, Amy Wagner of East Weymouth, Mass.; and his maternal grandmother.
