All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 20 May 1997 Carter Lee Veazey CLOVIS, N.M. - Carter Lee Veazey, 80, died Saturday, May 17, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Veazey was born in Van Alstyne, Texas. He graduated in 1937 from Amarillo High School at Amarillo. He married Althea Kunkel in 1938 at Amarillo. They lived in California from 1941 until returning to Amarillo in 1946. They moved to Guymon, Okla., in 1951 and to Clovis in 1952. He worked for Ford Motor Co., for 30 years before retiring in 1982. He was president of the Babe Ruth Baseball League. He also was a Cub Scout Master and president of Methodist Men. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1952 and had been a member of the Methodist church for 49 years. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Veazey of Charleston, W.Va.; a daughter, Phyllis of Stinnett, Texas; a brother, Alvis Veazey of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
