"Bill" White, 71, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in Liberal, Kan. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Tyrone United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Trobaugh and the Rev. Greg Keith officiating. Burial will be in Tyrone Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker. Mr. White was born Aug. 7, 1932, in East Prairie, Mo., the son of William Joseph and Victoria Hackworth White. He grew up and attended school in this area. The family then moved to Chicago. During the Korean War, Bill served in the Army and after his honorable discharge he returned to Chicago. On Aug. 20, 1955, in Heranodo, Miss., Bill was united in marriage to Fonda Rose Star. They made their home in Chicago until 1958 when they moved to Tyrone. They moved back to Chicago for two years before returing to Tyrone. Bill worked as a welder for Texas County District 1, working out of Hooker. Bill was a member of Tyrone United Methodist Church. He loved to fish, hunt and work in his welding shop. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Russell White; a granddaughter, Amy Gardner; two brothers, Dock White and Homer White; and five sisters, Lorene Jones, Thelma Hayden, Christine Byford, Toot Sisk and Willie Mae Mobbs. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tony White and wife, Debbie, of Texline, Texas, and Tommy White and wife, Rhonda, of Tyrone; a daughter, Janelle Gardner and husband, Bill, of Andrews, Texas; a brother, Pete White and wife, Peewee, of Simi Valley, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Gardner, Justin White, Jason Richards, Samantha Richards, Lane White, Lyndsey White, Colter White and Brandon White; two great- grandchildren, Mark Richards and Kevin White; and a special niece, Doris Rose and husband, Bill, of Charleston, Mo. The family suggests memorials be to Tyrone United Methodist Church or Amy Gardner Jazz Band Memorial and may be sent to the funeral home, P.O. Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
