Ralph M. Wood

CLAYTON, N.M. - Ralph M. Wood, 79, died Saturday, July 25, 1998.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Wood Auditorium with Jim Price 
officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. in the Springer 
Cemetery in Springer, N.M., with Steve Jenson officiating. Arrangements 
are by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Mr. Wood was born in Texhoma, Okla. He was a graduate of Springer High 
School and Panhandle State University. He was a Marine Corps veteran of 
World War II.

Mr. Wood taught school in the Springer and Farley areas for 37 years until 
his retirement in 1982. He then ranched near Gladstone.

He married Goldie Lee Williams in 1947 at Raton. He was preceded in death 
by an infant daughter.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cherilee Joy Bryan of 
Huntsville, Ark., and Viola Ann Ferran of Whiterock; two sons, Walter C. 
Wood of Woodbridge, Va., and Robert R. Wood of Dalhart, Texas; six 
sisters, Etta Estes, Florence Hunter and Jessie Ella Rinks, all of 
Albuquerque, and Floy E. Crosby, Mattie Pearl Hunter and Berta Ann 
Schmidtke, all of Sun City, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-
grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to Gladstone Community Center in care of 
Judy Modrall, Gladstone, N.M., 88422.
