Jokingly, however, she would say "I wasn't born in Texas but got here as quick as I could," living her life in Amarillo from young adulthood. On Dec. 24, 1938, she was married to Henry G. Schwan. They had a daughter, Judy, in 1940. Henry later became an Amarillo city employee and fire chief of many years. He went to be with the Lord in May 2001. Mrs. Schwan had a long career with Southwestern Public Service Co. in Amarillo. A faithful wife for 62 years, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and loving friend to many, Jackie left a rich heritage and will be greatly missed. The family and fiends of Jackie V. Dobson Schwan will celebrate her life at a graveside service. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Garrett and husband, Bill, of Grapevine; two granddaughters, Holly Raif and husband, Tony, of Carlsbad, Calif., and Amy Klein and husband, Dana, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Camryn Klein, and Ethan and Joshua Raif; and scores of nieces and nephews.
