"Bill" Harvey, 86, of Amarillo died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Marty Loberg officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount. Mr. Harvey, son of the late Louis and Ora Harvey, was born Dec. 6, 1916, in Grandfield, Okla. He was a graduate of Grandfield High School. In high school, he was active in the agriculture program, Future Farmers of America and worked in the family farm implement business. He was a graduate of Cameron Junior College in Lawton, Okla. He attended Oklahoma A&M before entering the Army and serving more than four years during World War II. He returned to Grandfield from the Army and worked for an insurance agency before joining Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. in Amarillo as a special agent in the Crop Hail Division. He retired from Fireman's Fund Co. in 1980 after 30 years of service. He married Wanda Walker of Grandfield in 1952. He and Wanda had been active in Westminster Presbyterian Church since moving to Amarillo. He had served as elder and deacon in the Presbyterian church. The Harveys loved square dancing and were members of several square dancing clubs. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Orene who died as an infant, and Jessie Dee Greer of Grandfield. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Louis Harvey of Garland and Jeff Harvey of Aspermont; and two grandchildren, Billy Paul Harvey of Dallas and Jamie Lynn Harvey of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to the Presbyterian Children's Home, 3400 S. Bowie St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or to a favorite charity.
