(November 13,1945) Funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ in Frederick Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock for Mrs. W.R. Gibbs, beloved Pioneer Tillman County Citizen who passed away shortly after 6 o'clock Tuesday morning in the Wichita Falls Clinic Hospital. Elder Dillard W. Thurman, Pastor of the Church, will be in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Milo B. Arbuckle, Pastor of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Gibbs succumbed to the complications of Pneumonia, after a serious heart attack suffered several weeks ago and the subsequent fracture of her hip for treatment of which she had been taken to the hospital in Wichita Falls. The body was returned to Frederick late Tuesday, and will lie in state at the family home, 422 North 13th. Street, until hour of the services. Miss. Mary Jeanette Hobbs was born June 26, 1870, in Tennessee, living there until she was eight years old, at which time she moved with her parents to Sunset, Texas. She was married to W.R. Gibbs at Alvord, Texas, in 1886 and a year later they moved to Oklahoma, settling near Healdton. They moved to Oklahoma, settling near Healdton. They moved to the Hurst Community Southwest of Frederick in 1902 and in 1906 purchased a farm in the Wilson Community which was the family home for many years. In 1924 Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs moved to Tipton to make their home, at which time Gibbs retired from active farming and purchased an acreage across from the Tipton Orphans' home. They were taking an active part in Community affairs until 1928 when they moved to Frederick. They purchased a home at 422 North Thirteenth Street where Gibbs passed away on February 17, 1935. Mrs. Gibbs had continued to make her home there since her husbands death. A son, William Walter Gibbs passed away in infancy, and another son, Henry Augustus Gibbs died in 1931. Surviving children include Mrs. Roy Delaney, B.W. Gibbs, H.L. Gibbs, Mrs. Barney Etter, Mrs. Joe Peters, all of Frederick, and Mrs. B. Wages of Oklahoma City. Other survivors include a sister Mrs. W.S. Sartan, of Walters, and a brother Henry Hobbs, of Lawton. Mrs. Gibbs became a member of the Church of Christ while a young girl and had continued to live a life devoted to its teachings and principles. She was an active member of the Frederick Church of Christ until she became ill in August when she was forced to drop most of her activities because of failing health. She suffered a serious heart attack about five weeks ago and was taken to the Wichita Falls Clinic Hospital for treatment. Three weeks later she was returned home, her condition greatly improved. She suffered a broken hip in a fall Sunday evening, following her return on Saturday and was rushed back to the Wichita Falls Hospital for treatment. Subsequent development of Pneumonia resulted in her death. Mrs. Gibbs was beloved by all who knew her as the head of one of Tillman County's Pioneer families and as a respected neighbor and friend. In the Communities in which she had made her home. Mrs. Gibbs had won the respect and esteem of everyone. Her passing is a source of deep regret to her many friends.
