THE OKLAHOMAN, Ok City, OK, Wednesday, February 23, 1938, pg. 12: STATE EDUCATOR IS DEAD IN TEXAS A. A. Rogers, Iraan (Texas), Brother of City Men A. A. Rogers, 62 years old, former state educator, died Tuesday morning at his home in Iraan, Texas, where he was superintendent of schools. He was the brother of J. J. Rogers, 1400 Northwest Twentieth Street, secretary to C. C. Brown, Tax Commissioner, and Z. Z. Rogers, 600 Northwest Eleventh Street. Rites will be Thursday at Iraan, Texas. Other survivors included two brothers, E. E. Rogers, 1434 Northwest Thirteenth Street, and D. D. Rogers, Kansas City; a daughter Mrs. Mart Brown, 310 West Twenty-seventh Street; a sister, Mrs. S. E. Patton, 727 Northwest Twenty-second Street, and three sons, I. I., G. G., and C. C. Rogers, all of Iraan. (The paper did not list another survivor: A daughter, Maredyth (Mrs. Orville) Myers of McCamey, Texas) 2. ROGERS BOYS FATHER DEAD (Appears to be from a Hobbs, New Mexico newspaper - 1938) A. A. Rogers, 63, father of Curtis, Gomer and Buddy Rogers of Hobbs, died at his home in Iraan Thursday following a lengthy illness. Mr. Rogers had never recovered from the shock of his wife's death a year ago, and had been in poor health since that time. His three sons from Hobbs and Oklahoma City and Mrs. Orville Myers of McCamey were at his bedside when death came. Mr. Rogers had taught public school in Oklahoma for 35 years before coming to Iraan ten years ago. He was justice of the peace in that city. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal Church. The Masonic Lodge will be in charge. - - - - -
