All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED GLENN RAYMOND WARD "Ray" Ray was born on December 24, 1936, in Tipton, Oklahoma. He died suddenly at home on Friday, March 9, 2007, at the age of 70. He passed away in Clovis, California, where he lived most of his life. Ray was the youngest of five children of Bennie and Winnie Ward. He graduated from Le Grand Union High School in 1955. He was class president, and played all sports. He attended Fresno City College while serving his masonry apprenticeship under John Brown. Ray met his wife to be Diana on February 14, 1964, at a Valentine's Day party, and soon to be married on November 21, 1964. He became a masonry inspector for the Fresno Unified School District, his projects were the remodel of Fresno High during the 1970's and Bullard High remodel. As a masonry contractor both in Reno, Nevada, and Fresno, California, he worked on many stone projects in the national parks and custom brick work on high end homes. After 45 years as a contractor and mason, he retired at age 65. Ray had many interests throughout his life, as his family was growing up, he did partake in the Boy Scouts as a Scout Master for then troop #22 for five years at the Peace Lutheran Church. He received an Honorary Eagle Scout award. Also during this time, he had an interest in stamp collecting, which would lead him to join the Fresno Philatelic Society. He became President of the society and helped bring the first philatelic shows to Fresno. He also became active with the Clovis 4-H, with horses and sheep. He enjoyed taking the family on extended motor home trips throughout the western states and Canada, and traveled through most national parks. "Forever in our hearts." He always had a love for gardening. He became interested with the iris plant approximately 20 years ago. Recently he started hybridizing; his most recent plants are in Texas waiting for the 2008 National Iris Convention. He has met many people whom he has considered his friends through visiting his iris gardens. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, John Glenn Ward; one sister, Atha Mets; and two brothers, Lee Ward and Acey Ward. He is survived by his wife Diana of 42 years; his sister, Bertha Honeycutt of Ceres; his son, Dennis R. Ward and his wife Teresa of Fresno; son Derek; daughter, Terri Hinojosa and her husband Richard of San Bernardino, and their daughters Danyll, Candice, Tristina, Cherish, and Angie; daughter, Michele Gunderson and her husband Jason of Fresno, and daughters Shelby and Alexandra, and son Cody; great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home in Clovis, California, on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Boice Funeral Home on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to the American Heart Society or to the donor's favorite charity.
