Tulsa Daily World. (Tulsa, Indian Terr.), Vol. 6, No. 267, Ed. 1 Wednesday, July 26, 1911
	The A.F.F. Club met at the home of Miss Myrl Koons, Monday evening and were pleasantly 
surprised during the evening by the announcement, made by the hostess, of her approaching 
marriage to Mr. Merrill Shaver, which is to take place on August 1st, at the home of the bride 
elect’s parents, 201 South Guthrie.
	Miss Koons has been a resident of Tulsa for several years and has a host of friends here.  
She has been teaching in the Tulsa schools for the last two years.
	Mr. Shaver is well known in banking circles in Tulsa, having been associated with the 
Central National Bank for some time.
	The wedding will be a quiet affair, only immediate relatives and a few intimate friends 
of the contracting parties having been bidden.
	After a sojourn of a month’s duration in Colorado, the future Mr. and Mrs. Shaver will 
come back to Tulsa and will move into their own home, Mr. Shaver having recently purchased 
property on Ninth and South Denver.

	A very pretty wedding took place at 8:15 last evening at the residence of the bride’s parents, 
Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Koons, 301 South Guthrie, when Miss Myrl Koons became the bride of Mr. Merrill Shaver.  
To the strains of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, played by Miss Laura Brown, the bridal couple, preceded 
by Miss Leah Centers, Mr. Jay Seagroves, and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Brammer entered the parlors of the 
pretty Koons home, where Rev. C.W. Kerr awaited them at the marriage altar.  The bride’s wedding dress 
was cream messaline and her going-away gown a gray tailored suit with hat, gloves and shoes to match.  
The house was beautifully decorated with pink and white roses and carnations and profusion of ferns.  A
fter the ceremony Miss Ella Brown and Miss Mildred Bradstreet served cake and cream molded in the shape 
of hearts and carrying out the color scheme of the decorations for the evening.
	Mr. and Mrs. Shaver left for Colorado, where they will spend their honeymoon; returning to Tulsa 
on the 25th inst. Where they will be at home to their friends in their home at Ninth and South Denver.  
The guests were Mr. and Mrs. David Gore, Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Koons, Mr. and 
Mrs. E.J. Wright, Misses Lea Centers of Neosho, Mo., Mildred Bradstreet of Muskogee, Ella and Laura Brown, 
Edna Stanley, Evelyn Vensel, Jessie McFall, Messrs. F.A. Robinson, Neil Sutherland, Harold Shaver, Jay 
Seagrove, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Brammer and Mr. and Mrs. John Shaver.
