(Tulsa, Indian Terr.), Vol. 6, No. 209, Ed. 1 Tuesday, May 23, 1911 Barney Sullivan of Tulsa, district manager for the Kansas Torpedo Co., and Miss Maude Watson, formerly chief operator in Nowata for the Pioneer Telephone Company, went to Wichita, Kan., Thursday night, where they were married Friday at the home of the bride’s sister Mrs. Ackerman. The ceremony was performed by a Catholic priest and a dispensation was obtained from the Bishop of Oklahoma, as the bride is a Protestant. Mr. Sullivan met his bride while he was a resident of Nowata, two years ago. He fell in love with her voice over the telephone and sought an acquaintance. The young woman proved as charming personally as he expected and he courted her with true Irish ardor. Mrs. Sullivan resigned her position a week ago, but none of her companions in the telephone office knew of the real reason until she left for Wichita. After a wedding trip to Kansas City, the happy couple will reside at Tulsa, where Mr. Sullivan has prepared a home for his bride. The Star joins with their many friends in congratulations. – Nowata Daily Star.
