Clinton also catered to children of grade school level during the construction of Pleasant Porter. Clinton Middle school was named after a westside family who donated it in the late 1800's. The school sits on the land where Charles and Louise Atkins Clinton once lived. The land was first referred to by the Half Circle S. Ranch but was later known as the Last Chance Ranch. It was built with Mrs. Clinton's Indian benefits. Directly behind this school now sits Clinton Oaks Cemetery. Charles Clinton was born in Georgia. Louise Atkins was a Creek Indian born in Texas. They were married 1873. They had four children; Fred (Could this be the Fred Clinton who was partially responsible for Tulsa's first oil well? I believe it was drilled on what was once the Clinton estate.) , Lee, Vera and Paul.
