The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ================================================================================ Submitted by Shelley Lynch on 4Oct2007 Published October 04, 2007 Muskogee Phoenix Anna Lee (Wells) Coppin 1922 - 2007 Anna Lee (Wells) Coppin, 85, of Muskogee, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Muskogee Regional Medical Center. She was born September 13, 1922 in Leonard, Oklahoma to Bertha Williams and Linzie Wells. At the age of eight, Anna moved to Muskogee County with her family. During the mid-sixties, Anna operated a gas station and café on Highway 64 South. She ran a grocery store at McClain, Oklahoma from 1971 to 1976. In 1976, Anna moved to Muskogee for a couple of years before returning to the country. She lived in Elm Grove for 22 years. Anna was a member of Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church. Her joy was cooking for the family. In her early years she cooked in a one room school with no running water. Anna was preceded in death by her father in 1965; her mother in 1991; her husband in 1997, two daughters, Brenda in 1967 and Judith Mizell in 1943; her sister, Geraldine Coppin, died in April 2000; her brother, Connie Wells and son-in-law, Bud Sallee in July 2006. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Cardell and Faye Coppin of McClain, OK; four daughters and sons-in-law, Coletta and Myron Van Meter of Tulsa, OK, Maurine Sallee and Shelia and Johnnie Chambers all of Elm Grove, OK, and Karen and Clayton Arnold of Wagoner, OK; sister-in-law, Yvonne Wells of Kansas City, MO; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and very special friends, Betty and Roy Raines. The family would like to thank the staff at Eastgate Retirement Center for the special care given to Anna. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 5, 2007 at Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church with her son, Rev. Cardell Coppin officiating. Interment will be in Agnew Cemetery at Elm Grove. Pallbearers will be Brandon Chambers, Michael Chambers, Wade Sallee, Chris Eutsler, Nathan Eutsler, Morgan Coppin and Justin Chambers. Funeral services are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
