He was born March 4, 1961 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. to parents Carol and Virgil Joseph "V.J." Niemeyer. Brad graduated from Memorial High School in Tulsa in 1979. He began his career as a processor aboard the Arctic Enterprise in 1986, and then held many positions over the past 20 years. He became the case up lead onboard the U.S. Enterprise in 1988 where he gained his nickname, "Box," and became the Trident factory manager a few years later. All of the factory trawlers in the Trident fleet were part of Brad's life at one time or another through the years. Those who knew him respected his abilities and valued him as a shipmate. Brad also studied Pollock roe and had become one of the best roe technicians in Alaska and recently split his time between running the surimi line in Newport as their chief surimi technician and leading the Pollock roe program on the Arctic Enterprise. Brad was well known for his outgoing personality and was one of those people who worked hard and had fun at the same time. His hobbies included his dogs, horticulture, horses and antiques. Brad was preceded in death by his brother Mark Niemeyer. He is survived by his parents Carol and V.J. Niemeyer of Tulsa. A memorial service will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11 at Yaquina Bay Yacht Club, located next to Englund Marine on SE Bay Boulevard in Newport.
