The latest dead: MRS. MINNIE FRANCES BROWN, 54, of 1206 S. Guthrie Ave. JOE ANDREW BERRY, 49, Granite. KENNETH LEROY HAFFNER, 16 Oklahoma City. GEORGE STROBEL, 59, Foss. Tulsa police said charges will be field [sic] against Lloyd O. Briggs, driver of a car which struck and fatally injured Mrs. Brown as she crossed a downtown street. She was injured about 7 a.m. and died at noon in a Tulsa hospital. Crossing at Corner The accident occurred as the woman started to cross 2nd St. at Denver Ave. It was the second pedestrian fatality in Tulsa in three days and the sixth of 1960. Traffic officers had just started a renewed drive for pedestrian safety. Cpl. Jack Seals, who investigated, said Briggs' windshield was frost-covered, except for a small portion which had been scraped clear. Traffic Capt. Larry Coulson said reports of the accident will be presented to the county attorney next week. Coulson said officers had been told to watch for cars with icy windows and to hand out citations to the drivers. He appealed Friday to drivers to share in the responsibility of traffic safety. Grim Predictions Oklahoma Safety Council officials have predicted nine persons will die and 120 will be injured in Oklahoma traffic accidents between 6 p.m. Friday and midnight Monday. Berry died of injuries suffered Dec. 23 when the car [he] was driving skidded on loose gravel on a county road near Roosevelt and slammed into a dirst [sic] embankment. The Oklahoma City boy was a passenger in a car driven by Donald Ray Wilson, 16, which went out of control in Oklahoma City and struck a power pole. He was dead on arrival at an Oklahoma City hospital. Truck Overturns Strobel was standing beside a car in a Foss service station when a trailer-truck hauling rock jackknifed and overturned nearby. Most of the rock spilled on Strobel and the car. Robert Frazier, Foss, who was in the car, suffered minor injuries. Mrs. Brown was a cook at Mary's Café, 124 W. Archer St., and was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church at Sapulpa. She is survived by her husband, Robert Brown; a son, R.W. Brown, Kellyville; a daughter, Mrs. Nadine Mayberry, Sapulpa; and four grandchildren.
