Dittus, 50, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Loveland, died Feb. 20, 2003, at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer. Memorial services were Feb. 24 at Southern Hills Baptist Church in Tulsa. He was born Feb. 7, 1953, in Loveland. He attended Tulsa public schools and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1971. He received his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in 1975 and a master's degree in corrections in 1978. He worked for Family Junction and Youth and Family Services in Moore, Okla., and joined Tulsa Street School in 1982 and became executive director. He received several individual awards and was responsible for many awards the Street School received under his leadership. He touched the lives of thousands of youths across the state through his work in alternative education. He coached his children and inspired greatness both on and off the field. He is survived by his wife, two sons,a daughter, parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-law, mother-in-law and father-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews; and a large extended family. Ninde Funeral Directors, Woodland Chapel, in Tulsa, was in charge of arrangements.
