Winkle, 67, lifetime area resident, passed from this life on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007 in a Tulsa hospital. Dale was born on June 14, 1940 in Checotah to Homer and Clova (King) Winkle, and was a graduate of Checotah High School in 1958. He has worked all his life in the gas pipeline industry, and was a member of the Local 627, Operating Engineers Union in Tulsa. Dale was an avid wolf hunter and enjoyed raising mules. Preceding him in death are his father and one nephew, Brad Coleman. Survivors include his wife Deborah of the home; his mother, Clova Winkle of Checotah; two sons, Matt Winkle and Cory Newton both of Checotah; two daughters, Gayle and her husband Rick Gomez of McAllen, TX and Tamy Packard of California; brother, Cecil and his wife Pat of Checotah; two sisters, Nona and her husband Doyle Coleman and Lou and her husband, Nix, both of Checotah; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hampton Memorial Chapel with the Rev. D. Vann Washington officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Checotah. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hampton Mortuary, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah 918-473-6821.
