George Calvin KITE died peacefully at his Ventura residence Saturday, Oct 14, 2006 of cancer. He was born Oct 26, 1931 in Tulsa, Okla and had been a Ventura County resident for 25 years. George graduated from the University of Tulsa in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering. He then joined the Navy and was commissioned a lieutenant junior grade in Newport, R.I. and served through 1958. George had two major careers in his lifetime. After a 27-year career in the petroleum industry with Combusion Engineering in Oklahoma, Texas, London, Connecticut and Ventura, George retired from C-E Vetco in 1985 and then pursued a career in real estate. He served as president and vice president of the Ventura County Board of Realtors and as director of the National Association of Realtors and the California Association of Realtors. He was currently an associate broker with Prudential California Realty in Ventura. George is survived by his wife, Christine; son, Christopher; daughters Nicole of Ventura, Sarah Powell of San Antonio, Texas, and Susan [husband John] Huskinson of Dallas, Texas; brother Jerry [wife Charlotte] of Dallas, Texas; and grandchildren, Matthew, Brian, Emily, Rachel, Joshua, and Tanner. A funeral service will be held at 1pm Thursday, Oct 19, at Community Presbyterian Church, 1555 Poli Street, Ventura. Burial will be at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bob Gregorchuk, Sunset Plan.
