Mrs. West was born Sunday, July 27, 1919 to the late Sylvester and Clara Henry Hudson in Sands Spring, Oklahoma and had lived in Mansfield, Ohio for the past 26 years. Ophelia was a homemaker, member of the Mitchell Chapel A.M.E. Church, and served as a Stewardess and a member of the choir at Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church prior to moving to Mansfield, Ohio. Ophelia is survived by her four children, Maxine (Douglass) Johnson, Mansfield, Ohio; Carla Bruce, Gathersburg, Maryland, Bradley West, Richmond Heights, Ohio, and Christopher West of Lexington, Donna Fox, Sacramento, California whom she treated as a daughter; step-sons, James West, Stone Mountain, Georgia and Roscoe West of Detroit, Michigan; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Willie Mae Burr, Los Angeles, California, Lula Smith, Tacoma, Washington; and brother David Hudson, of Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to her parents Ophelia was also preceded in death by her husband Roscoe, five sisters; and one brother. Friends may call Thursday after 2 p.m. in the Ruth Anna Lee Williams Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Services where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Homegoing services will be held Friday at 12 noon in the Shaffer Chapel AME Church in McIntirye with Ophelia's cousin Rev. Mary Ann Smith officiating. The family will also receive friends at the church one half hour prior to the homegoing services. Interment will be in McIntirye Cemetery. www.williamsfuneralservices.com
