Contributed by: Julie Oliver on 31 Dec 1999 Pioneer Tulsa Grocer Is Dead Thomas Daniel Sexton, 84, retired grocer, died at his home, 1003 N. Quaker Ave., Friday night after a seven-week illness. The elderly owner of Sexton's Grocery, 1311 E. King St., retired 10 years ago. He was born in Centralia, MO and moved to Vinita in 1900, coming to Tulsa in 1910. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Memorial Christian Church of which he was a member, Rev. A.P. Cameron, pastor will conduct. Internment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. The hour of the services will be announced by Moores Funeral Home. Surviving Mr. Sexton are the widow, Mrs. Sarah Ettie Sexton, of the home; a son, Ira Sexton, 1313 E. King Street; two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Skinner and Mrs. Martha Ann Williams, 1704 1/2 W. Brady St., a sister, Mrs. Adeline Chance, Centralia; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
