Mrs. Twist-Runswick, 96, of Medford, died Wednesday (Feb. 18, 2004) at Sunrise Foster Care Home, near her granddaughter Tina Karlan and her family. Mrs. Twist-Runswick was born on Nov. 9, 1907 in Tulsa, OK. Her great-great-grandfather walked on the "Trail of Tears". This made them the first pioneer settlers to Oklahoma. She was 1/8 Cherokee Indian. She attended a private women's Indian School in Tulsa, OK. Mrs. Twist-Runswick was a member of a Cherokee women's organization. Survivors include; two daughters, Norma Sonnefeld, of Florida and Claudette Curry of Hawaii; a son, Sonny Schubert of Calif.; her granddaughter and her husband Tina and Ed Karlan of Medford; and her great-grandchildren, Lacy and Justin of Medford. She had 10 other grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
