A Tulsan for 45 years, Wheete and his wife, the late Treva Wheete, who died in 1963, were widely know for the color block prints which were exhibited in may parts of the United States and Europe. During the 1930s, the Wheetes were invited by the Kansas City Woodcut Society to make a gift print which was reproduced in the several national magazines. The prints were made from blocks of wood or other materials on which colors were blended. Wheete had served as president of the Oklahoma Artist Association and was a member of several print societies. He was more in Carthage, Mo. Services will be held at 10:20 am Monday at the Greenlee Funeral Home, Eureka Springs. Interment will be in the cemetery there.
