Wood John L. Wood John L. Wood, 92, of Amarillo died Sunday, May 19, 2002. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Paul Sneed officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Wood was a member of Central Church of Christ. He worked hard all his life and enjoyed working and tinkering with cars and trucks. He worked for Crow-Gulde Cement Co. for eight years. He married Ellen Ryan Goodwin on Oct. 20, 1935, in Carlsbad, N.M. They had been married for 66 years and spent most of those years in Amarillo. Together they took several tours in their retirement years. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joyce V. Jones and husband, George W., of Amarillo; a son, Darrell Ralph Wood and wife, Mary Lou, of Topeka, Kan.; a granddaughter, Wendy Patricia Wood of Glen Allen, Alaska; three grandsons, George Randolph Jones and Richard Kelly Jones and wife, Khristy, both of Amarillo, and Phillip Casey Jones and wife, Lesse, of Wylie; six great-granddaughters, Rebecca Ann Jones of Tulsa, Okla., Leslie Rene Jones and Christina Phelps, both of Amarillo, and Frances Wood, Angela Wood and Trinity Wood, all of Glen Allen; three great-grandsons, David Randolph Jones of Tulsa, Michael Keith Jones of Muskogee, Okla., and Ches Phelps of Amarillo; and a great-great-granddaughter, Jessica Ann Jones of Tulsa. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101; or Muscular Degeneration Research, 15825 Shady Grove Road, Rockville, MD 20850-4022.
