All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Glen Oaks Memorial Park--Chico CA Vernal Loy Dean Funeral services for Vernal Loy Dean 83 of Chico will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, in the chapel of Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway, in Chico. Vernal passed away Feb. 7, 2007, in Chico. He was born July 5, 1923 in Wagoner, Okla., to Arthur and Walcie Martin- Dean. Vernal married Erma Ruth Jones Sept. 20, 1942. He has been a Chico resident since June of 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy, LST 800 in World War II with full honors. Vernal was a member of the United States LST Association. Since 1947, Vernal and Ruth operated their business, Vernal L. Dean Trucking and farmed their walnut and almond orchards. He hauled for many producers of dairy and agricultural products such as Carnation, Foremost, Olympic Cheese, Land O'Lakes, Knudsen, Brown Cow, Humboldt Creamery, Blue Diamond Almonds, Tenneco West and NFO to name a few. Those who knew Vernal, knew he was a man of his word and never let his family or customers down. He was a very hard working man and upstanding person of the community. Vernal worked until the day of his passing. He had many friends in the Chico and surrounding communities. His passing will be missed by many who love and respected him greatly. He is survived by his wife of 64 1Ž2 years Erma Ruth Dean; his son James L. Dean. Grandchildren: Lisa Marie Atkins and Eddie Dean. Great-grandchildren: Mallory Dean, Jacob Atkins, Jordan Atkins, Joelle Atkins, Andrea Kempton-Dean, Lindsey Kempton-Dean. Grandson- in-law, Brent D. Atkins. Granddaughter-in-law Sarah Kempton-Dean. A sister, Vera Dean-Ross. Half-brother Arthur Dean Jr. And half-sister Susie Andrew. Following the funeral service, Vernal will be laid to rest in the Garden of Peace at Glen Oaks Memorial Park will full Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Brusie Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, his wish was for charitable donations to be made in his memory to his great- grandchildren's school.
