All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Redbird City Cemetery--Redbird OK George Robinson, Jr. (April 12, 1934 - October 4, 2006) Mr. George Robinson, Jr., after 72 years, dozed into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 from Coweta Manor Nursing Home. The second child born from the union of George and Velma [Middleton] Robinson, Sr., arrived in Red Bird, Oklahoma on April 12, 1934. He was named after his father, George Robinson, Jr. George grew up in Red Bird and professed a hope in Christ at an early age, under the leadership of Reverend Bradford at the First Baptist Church of Red Bird. His formal education began at Miller Washington School in Red Bird, where he graduated with the Class of 1955. He then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country honorably for two years. He united in Holy Matrimony to Lillian Finch and this union was blessed with four children, one which preceded him in death. After this marriage ended, he later met and married Virginia Jones. This marriage was later dissolved. He met and married marilyn Mayberry, who preceded him in death in January of 2001. He leaves to lament his passing; two daughters, Beverly McPherson [Alfonzo], Catherine Sanders [James], all of Wichita, Kansas; a son, George Robinson, III, Wichita, Kansas; four step-children, Diane Johnson, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Rosalind McHenry, Bixby, Oklahoma, Mary Steele, Coweta, Oklahoma and Anthony Alexander, Haskell, Oklahoma; two brothers, Herbert Robinson [Rebecca] and Tony Robinson [Janetta], all of Porter, Oklahoma; seven sisters, Doretha Sharp [Edward], Muskogee, Oklahoma, Alice Collins, Los Angeles, California, Ophelia Jackson [Frank], Inglewood, California, Essie Robinson and Gloria Clayton, both of Wichita, Kansas, Zelma Ledbetter, Carrolton, Texas and Tamara Bowens, Tulsa, Oklahoma; one aunt, Essie DeFlora, Seattle, Washington; and a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The farewell will be on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 in the First Baptist Church of Redbird. Reverend William Janey will officiate. Burial will follow in Redbird City Cemetery.
