All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Memorial Park Cemetery--Muskogee OK Published in Muskogee Phoenix On 12-5-2006 Section A Page 4 Boyce "Cliff" Stewart Funeral services for Boyce Clifford Stewart, 88 of Wagoner, OK will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at the Shipman Funeral Home with Reverend Carl Tinnea officiating. Pallbearers will be Matthew Tierney, Bill Moon, Jerry Fields, Eddie Johnson, Daniel Foreman and Arthur Lucas. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, OK. Mr. Stewart was born January 10, 1918 in Gideon, OK, the son of Bert Boyce Stewart and Mae (Herrin) Stewart and he died on Saturday, December 2, 2006 in Tahlequah. Mr. Stewart attended schools in Moody and in Tahlequah. In 1940 he married Clara Christine Downing. They moved to Detroit, Michigan where he learned his trade as Machinist, at Republic Aircraft. During WWII he was sent by the draft board to work in the U.S. Naval dry docks, Terminal Island in San Pedro, CA, until 1946 doing large machine work. In 1946 he moved to Muskogee and went to work for Brockway Glass Company mould shop where he worked for 33 years. The last 15 years he was supervisor, retiring in 1978. At the age of 10, Cliff taught himself to play the fiddle and was a well known fiddle player in the area, winning several fiddling contests. Later while living in California he organized an eight piece band called The Easy Riders. They played for ballroom dances around L.A., for two years until he left. He always enjoyed playing and singing. He also enjoyed square dancing and playing golf. In 1993, after 53 year of marriage, Clara died and four years later he married Jean Sargent on March 12, 1998, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He joined Boulevard Christian Church in Muskogee in 1951. He had been an active member of First Christian Church in Wagoner since 1984 and had served as a Deacon for several years. He had also been a member of the Muskogee Oriental 430 Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife; Clara, two brothers; Delmar and Gayle. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife Jean of the home, a daughter; Sharon Silliman of Burnsville, MN. Granddaughters; Jennifer Ide and her husband Todd of Mapleton, MN, and Nicole Larson and her husband Dan of Burnsville, MN. One great-granddaughter; Amber Thomson of Burnsville, MN, a nephew; Arthur Lucas and a niece; Nadine Downing, several cousins and friends.
