All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Wright's Chapel Cemetery--Lockesburg AR Funeral services for George Henry Smith, 70, retired truck driver of Wagoner will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2007 at the First Assembly of God Church in Wagoner with the Reverend Richard Young officiating. George was born in Lockesburg, Arkansas on April 9, 1937 to his parents, Earnest and Geneva (Posey) Smith. He spent his early life in the Lockesburg area, graduating high school there. George worked for many years as a truck driver, much of that time employed with the Wonder Bread Co. in Tulsa. He was also a long time member of the Teamsters, Local No. 523 in Tulsa. Attending the First Assembly of God Church in Wagoner was very important to him. George loved being outdoors, especially riding and training horses. He enjoyed rodeos and in his younger days bucked horses and bulls. Of all these, his family was most important to him. George passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at the Muskogee Regional Medical Center. George was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Edward Smith; his sister, Alice Hubbard; and an infant sister, Betty Jo Smith. He is survived by his wife, Joana of the home; his children, Larry Blunt and his wife, Jan of North Carolina, Barry Smith and his wife, Karen of Jenks, Gigi Detter and her husband, Travis of Claremore, Bill and Cathy Pascoe of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Pam and Darrell Shepherd of Wagoner, Becky and Jeff Showman of Frisco, Texas and Ashley O'Neal of Whiteman, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Earnest S. Smith and his wife, Betty of Ashdown, Arkansas; a sister Ellen Shelley of Magnolia, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Friends serving as pallbearers are Nolan Guerin, Tom Sutton, Mark Summers, George Swimley, John Morgan and Ernie Williams.
