Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday in the First Church of God Church in Dewey with Pastor Tony Siebles officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Walker-Brown Funeral Home. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the James H. Teel Post #105. Pallbearers will be Craig Middleton, Steve Beasley, Robert Justus, Tommy Ladner, Clint Howard and Larry Simpson. Honorary pallbearers will be John Osborn, Vernon McKissick, Paul Alexander, John Hicks, Tony Murguia and Chester Warren Knight. Mr. Barber was born on January 22, 1927 in Welty, Oklahoma to Charles Ray And Odessa (Crook) Barber. He moved with his family to Okemah in 1936 and attended high school and graduated with the class of 1944. He entered the United States Navy during WW.II. in 1945 where he attained the rank of Third Class Chief Petty Officer. After his discharge in 1946 he returned home and married May Kathryn Justus of Okemah on May 27, 1949. He began his 37 year association with the Phillips Petroleum Company in 1948 as an IBM Tabulator Operator. He retired in 1985 as a Supervisor of IBM/EAM Processing. Leroy and May have been active members of the First Church of God in Dewey for fifty five years. Leroy served on the board of Trustees and was his sunday school class teacher for 46 years. He is survived by his wife May of the home one son and his wife Phil and Jill Barber of Woodlands, Texas, two sisters Norma Beasley of Peoria Ill, and Freda Middleton of Oklahoam City,; one brother, Ivan "Tug" Barber of Cleveland, Oklahoma, two grandsons Blake and Reed Barber of Woodlands, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
