Byers Mr. Arlie Blane Byers, 79, retiree of the Phillips Petroleum Co. Aviation Department and the husband of Mrs. Adrianna "Ann" (Marling) Byers, died at 9:05 p.m. on Wednesday in the Jane Phillips Memorial Medical Center. Private family final rites will be directed by The Arnold Moore Funeral Service. A memorial in Arlie's name has been established, and friends who wish may forward their gifts to the American Diabetes Association, 6600 S. Yale Ave., Suite 1318, Tulsa, Okla. 74136. A native of Oklahoma, Arlie Blane Byers was born at Osage in Osage County on June 9, 1923. He was the son of the late Roy L. and Minnie A. (Parks) Byers. Arlie was reared and completed his education in the Osage Community Schools. Arlie was enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Force on December 12, 1942 and served during WWII in the Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe and the Air Offensive Europe Campaigns. He received his honorable discharge on October 23, 1945 and returned to Oklahoma. He and the former Miss Adrianna "Ann" Marling were united in marriage on October 27, 1945, and they made their first home in Bartlesville. Arlie was an employee of the Phillips Petroleum Company's Aviation Dept. as a Steward, and following 32 years of service he was retired in June 1985. He and Ann have continued their residence in Bartlesville living in retirement. Surviving are his wife, Adrianna "Ann" (Marling) Byers of the Bartlesville home; two daughters, Mrs. Sammy (Pam) Gage, Bartlesville and Ms. Carolyn (Byers) Jones, Bartlesville; two grandchildren, Mrs. Chet (Michelle) Burrows, Bartlesville and Birch Jones, Ft. Stockton, Texas; two great grandchildren, Brice W. and Nichole R. Jones; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Warren of Lewisville, Texas and Mrs. Paul J. (June) (Byers) Brant of Independence, Kansas; and Arlie's companions, Dinah and Buffy.
