Dorothy Jean Curphey

Dorothy Jean Curphey, 74, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999.

Private family burial will be in Bartlesville, Okla. Arrangements are by 
Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mrs. Curphey was born in Tulsa and grew up in Bartlesville where she 
graduated from high school in 1943. She attended Northwestern University 
and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1947. She was a member of 
Delta Delta Delta sorority.

In 1951, Mrs. Curphey moved to Amarillo. She taught needlepoint at 
Pettipoint Junction and received national recognition for her needlework. 
She was a Unitarian.

She married George Don Curphey in 1950 at Bartlesville.

Survivors include her husband; a son, David Christopher Curphey of 
Amarillo; and two grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, P.O. Box 
950, Amarillo, TX 79176-0001.
