Dunlap from 4-22-2003 Examiner Enterprise Mr. William Ford "Bill" Dunlap, 69, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend went home to be with his Lord and Savior Easter evening at 11:00 P.M... Bill fought a long courageous battle with Cancer and was surrounded by his family when he left this earth from the Jane Phillips Geriatrics Center where he had resided for the past six and one-half months. Funeral services to celebrate Bill's life will be held at First Baptist Church in Bartlesville at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 23, 2003 with Dr. Joe Fowler officiating. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Stumpff Funeral Home from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 PM on Tuesday. Casket escorts will be Leonard Brock, Jr., Dennis Shoemaker, Dan Neunswander, Terry Egleston, Randy Henton, Deni Lorson, John Gahagan and Darrell Ballard. The family has requested that in lieu of traditional floral remembrances, Contributions in Bill's memory be made to the Jane Phillips Hospice, 219 N. Virginia Avenue, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74003. A native of Oklahoma Bill was born in Durant on June 27, 1933 to Claude C. Dunlap and Floy Ford Dunlap. He was reared and received his education in Wilburton, Oklahoma. He was a teacher, coach and administrator for thirty- nine years. He was past president and administrator of the year for the association of Secondary Principals of Oklahoma. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church and an enthusiastic member of the Men's Ministry. Bill's greatest pleasures in life were watching his children and grandchildren grow into Christian Adults. One of his greatest honors came when he and his wife Thelma received the Spirit Award from the Broken Arrow Wrestling Team. Some of his greatest joys were participating in sports and riding motorcycles with his many friends. Bill had a great love for life and will be missed by his family and friends. Bill is survived by his wife Thelma French Dunlap of forty-eight years; daughter Suzan Dunlap of Bartlesville, son Steve Dunlap of Tulsa; granddaughter Rachel VanPeursem and husband Cole of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandson Travis Dunlap and wife Morgan of Bartlesville; sisters Helen Baker and husband J.N. of Wilburton; Mary Kay of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters-in-law Fumiko Dunlap of Midwest City and Mollie Hopper of Weatherford, Texas.
