"Don" Grassl, 61, of Altamont Kansas went to be with the Lord October 13, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Esther McCardie Grassl of Altamont, a son, Scott Grassl and his wife Brandy, of Oswego, Kansas, a daughter, Twyla Pefley and her husband Chris of Chanute, Kansas, a grandson, Matthew, and a sister, Nancy Grassl Kibler and her husband, Henry of Casa Grande, Arizona. He was a member of the Bible Holiness Church of Cherryvale. He served the Lord as pastor of Bible Holiness churches in Ramona, Oklahoma, Altoona and Altamont, Kansas. He owned and operated a painting and drywall business for many years. Later he was appointed Fire Chief for the City of Altamont, served as an officer for the Altamont Police Department, as well as Chaplain and dispatcher for the Labette County Sheriff's Department in Kansas. His hobbies included fishing and hunting, and he especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant twin brother. Services were October 17, 2006 in Altamont.
