Dean Grimm died Feb. 10, 2007 at a local care facility in Boise, Idaho. He was born on April 15, 1916 in Rolla Missouri, the fourth of five children of Lulu Elizabeth Brown and Claude Orestes Grimm. He graduated from the Missouri School of Mines (now University of Missouri at Rolla) with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering. He received an honorary degree from that institution in 1966. Mr. Grimm did graduate work in advanced management at Northwestern University in 1964 and Harvard University in 1967. He also participated in the Aspen Humanities Institute in 1965. Following college, Mr. Grimm joined Phillips Petroleum Company in 1937 in Bartlesville, Okla., and remained there for 18 years. In 1956 he joined Northern Natural Gas Company in Omaha, Neb., rising to Group Vice President. In 1970 he became President and Director of Intermountain Gas Company in Boise Idaho. During his tenure with Intermountain, Mr. Grimm directed, inspired and led the company personnel in a very productive fashion. Among his accomplishments, he formed the IGC Production Company subsidiary, a gas exploration and development entity. A liquefied natural gas facility near Nampa was completed in 1974 as a result. As Director of Intermountain Gas Company, he was on the Board of Directors of both the American Gas Association and the Pacific Gas Association, was a member of the Conference Board, was an invited participant of the Canadian Conference Board, and a member of the Idaho Council of Economic Education. He was active in charities in the community, and believed that it was the duty of the company to be supportive of and lead in these endeavors. His hobbies included golf, skiing, hunting and fishing, and he was an avid fan of the Boise State Broncos. He married Cordealia Edna Huffman in 1936 and had two daughters, Peggy Grimm of Houston, Texas, and Deana Jones (Mrs. Jimmy E.) of Pensacola, Fla. His wife predeceased him in 1963. He then married Joan Hausen Weiss in 1964. Mr. Grimm is survived by his wife Joan, his sister Rae Bertch, daughters Peggy Grimm and Deana Jones, his step son Rick Weiss; four grandchildren: Susannah Jones Frazier and husband Bill, Dr, Chuong Vu and wife Melissa, Meredith Jones Wolf and husband Michael, and James Michael Jones; and four great- grandchildren: Helen and Elizabeth Frazier, Noelle Vu, and Maggie Wolf. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Deacon Rick Harvey of St. Michaelīs Episcopal Cathedral will officiate. His family suggests memorials be made to the Boise State Athletic Dept., 1910 University Dr., Boise, ID 83725, or a charity of your choice.
