All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::El Camino Memorial Park--San Diego CA Harris, Richard Lee HARRIS, RICHARD LEE Richard Lee Harris was born January 12, 1932 in Independence, Kansas to Kenneth and Vona Harris. When he was two years old, they moved to Bartlesville, OK. He attended school there until he entered the military in 1948 and was shipped out to Korea in 1950. He was wounded twice in Korea and was a two time Purple Heart recipient. He married LaVaughn Eads in 1954 and they had two children, Steven in 1956 and Cynthia in 1965. In 1966, the family relocated to Los Angeles, CA where he was employed with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an aircraft mechanic at LAX. In 1970, he married Kathryn Huffer. In 1980, they moved to San Diego where he was reassigned as a flight safety inspector with the FAA. He remained with the FAA until his retirement in 1987 and was proud to have worked over 33 years in the government sector. He began retirement where he enjoyed several hobbies and interests such as golf, collecting carnival glass and reading. He enjoyed morning coffee at the Donut Cottage and spending time with his many friends. He unexpectedly passed away on February 24, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his son Steven, of Orange County, CA; his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and John Bunch of Winslow, Arizona; his sister, Barbara Hill of Olathe, Kansas, and two nephews, David and Rick Hill. Services will be held at Clairemont Mortuary. On February 28th, a Viewing will be held from 5-8 p.m. and on March 1st, there will be a second Viewing from 11-1:30 and the memorial service will start at 1:30 p.m. Immediately following the service, a graveside burial will take place at El Camino Memorial Park.
